WATCH: Titling of 90% of ancestral lands in Caraga complete by year’s end–NCIP

National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Caraga director Jose Jake Dumagan said at least 90 percent of all ancestral lands in Caraga covering 950,000 hectares would be issued certificates of ancestral land domain (CADT) by year’s end.

Under Republic Act 8371, or the Indigenous People’s Rights Act of 1997, indigenous cultural communities and indigenous peoples (ICCs/IPs) can avail themselves of the right to own and to secure titles for their ancestral lands.
