Tubay all set for Kalinawan Festival

To conserve the socio-cultural aspects of the municipality, mining firm SR Metals, Inc. (SRMI) has done so much preparation for the much-awaited Kalinawan Festival 2017, set to be conducted on December 4-8, 2017 at La Fraternidad Baywalk, Tubay, Agusan del Norte.

Jacquelou Modar, ComRel manager said this year’s celebration would be a lot better since most of the competitions are open to be participated by the communities not only in the town but also in the whole province.

“The purpose why SRMI initiated this event is to uphold the spirit of camaraderie and unity among Tubaynons to serve as an entertainment for all and also to rekindle the socio-cultural facets of the municipality,” Modar said.

It can be recalled that the said mining firm started its community day in 2011 and just changed its name to “Kalinawan Festival” in 2015 taking the name of the river that mostly surrounds all Barangays of the town.

Also, SRMI took its name to pay tribute to the river after it has found out that economic trades were done by the people a long time ago.

Kalinawan Festival is now on its 3rd year of conduct and is tagged as the biggest event awaited by the people in the municipality, consistently celebrated in the 1st week of the month of December. By JD
