The Surigao del Norte provincial government signed a memorandum of agreement for a sisterhood relationship with Gyeongsangbuk-do Province in the Republic of Korea that fosters cooperation between the two in various fields for sustainable development.
The “sisterhood agreement,” which was inked on Jan. 14 seeks the creation of a partnership group, tasked to bring about an exchange of technical knowledge and practices in tourism, agriculture , information technology and investments.
Surigao del Norte Governor Sol F. Matugas and Rep. Francisco Jose “Bingo” F. Matugas II signed the agreement at the Kapitolyo Nan Siargao in Dapa, Siargao with Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Kim Kwan-Yon.
Business leaders and non-government organization leaders in the province, including the Chamber of Commerce also witnessed the event.
“I think that we can do a lot of things together and we can go together. Gyeongsang province is a large region and we have leading companies in Korea such as Samsung, LG and POSCO,” said Matugas, quoting Kwan-Yong.
Matugas said Surigao del Norte and Siargao Island look forward to a strong socio-economic partnership with Gyeongsangbuk-do. By CLC
