The Philippine National Police has launched a Caraga-wide caravan to make it easier for gun owners to apply for new license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF) and renewal of gun licenses.

The Civil Security Unit (CSU) of the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) is going around the region starting on Thursday (April 6) to bring the application process closer to gun holders.

“This caravan aims make it easier for gun owners to apply for firearm license or to renew their expired gun licenses,” Caraga police director Chief Supt. Rolando B. Felix said.

Felix said the PRO 13-CSU will receive applications for LTOPF and for the delinquent gun owners to have their expired LTOPF’s renewed.

The caravan started at Police Regional Office 13 in Camp Rodriguez, Libertad, Butuan City.

The caravan will be at the following police provincial headquarters: Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO), Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur on March 30-31, 2017; Surigao del Sur PPO, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur on April 3-4, 2017; Surigao del Norte PPO, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte on April 6-7, 2017; and Dinagat Islands PPO, San Jose, Dinagat Islands on April 11-12, 2017.

The PNP earlier issued guidelines aimed at reducing the number of requirements needed and streamlining the application process to shorten the wait for its release.

From 10 requirements for a license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF), it has been reduced to just four: the neuro-psychiatric screening, drug test, police clearance and the RTC/MTC or NBI clearance. By YUC
