P25-minimum wage hike OK’d for Caraga workers

The P25-increase in the daily minimum wage for Caraga workers would be implemented in three tranches starting next month. Skeptica

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Caraga (RTWPB-13) has approved a P25-increase in the daily minimum wage for workers in the region.

Earl Dela Victoria, RTWPB-13 board secretary, said in a phone interview on Monday that the wage board issued Wage Order No. 15 raising the daily minimum wage from P280 to P305.

The amount would apply only to minimum wage earners in all classes in the Caraga Region, he said.

According to Dela Victoria said the wage adjustment would be implemented in three tranches of P10, 10 and P5 starting next month.

“The increase will be given in three tranches, P10 by December next month, P10 by February and P5 by May next year,” he said.

Dela Victoria added the board approved the adjustment of the minimum wage rates after considering various conditions- the needs of the workers, the capacity of the employers to pay and competitiveness of the region that warranted an increase. By CLC
