Gunmen identifying themselves as members of the New People’s Army executed a former militiaman in Carmen town, Agusan del Norte on Tuesday evening, the police said Wednesday.
SPO1 Noel Perang, homicide investigator of Carmen municipal police, said William Araneta Manili, 26, was lounging in front of a sari-sari store in Sitio Macopa in Barangay Poblacion when at least three rebels arrived at 8:30 p.m.
Perang said the rebels forcibly took Manili and led him to a nearby coconut farm, where he was repeatedly shot. “He died instantly,” he said.
Perang said the rebels then fled. The NPA’s Front Committee 4-A, which operates in Agusan del Norte, has not issued any statement on the public execution of the former militiaman. By CLC
