An ancient sculpture was unearthed in Esperanza, Agusan del Sur, reports said.
The beautifully carved metallic idol, depicting a female Hindu deity, in a seated posture, was the second relic to be found in the area.
In 1917, the four-pound, eight-inch, 24-carat “Golden Tara” Hindu statue
was found near a river in Esperanza by a Manobo woman.
The 13th century relic is considered one of the most important archeological discoveries in the Philippines. By GD Photo courtesy of Oto Randy Jake Rosas
