Caraga set a new record for the largest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases after the Department of Health regional office registered 592 new cases on Thursday,September 9 .
This topped the previous record-high increase recorded last Wednesday of 483 cases.
DOH Caraga’s COVID-19 tracker also showed that there are 290 newly reported recoveries during the same period, although an additional 14 patients died of the disease and raised the death toll to 1,086.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the region is currently at 33,821, with 5,044 active cases.
Caraga has been seeing an alarming spike of COVID-19 cases and number of fatalities since the start of September due to community transmission and weak enforcement of the minimum public health standards.
Authorities urged residents to get vaccinated and to follow health protocols to stop the spread of the virus.
To date, Caraga has vaccinated a total of 352,067 individuals,according to DOH’s latest data. CLC
