Ex-village chief linked to drugs shot dead in Siargao

A former village chief of General Luna town in Siargao Island was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding gunmen at 8:45 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 9), police said in a belated report.

Jinkylito Ortojan,51, village chief of Tawin-tawin was walking towards his neighbor’s house when one of two men on a motorcycle shot him, according to Chief Insp. Joel Leong, General Luna town police chief.

The gunman then approached the fallen Ortojan and again shot him several times.

Leong said Ortojan, who was allegedly linked to drugs was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police are still determining the identities of the perpetrators and the possible motive behind the killing, he said. By CLC
