Dinagat logs record-high 16 new coronavirus cases

Dinagat province has recorded on Sunday, April 11,16 COVID-19 cases, the highest daily tally this year, according to the Dinagat Islands provincial information office (DIPIO).

In its 10:30 p.m. report, the provincial information office, said 14 of the new patients are from the capital town of San Jose and two from the municipality of Loreto.

The DIPIO said the new COVID-19 patients are the close contacts of Dinagat residents who tested positive for COVID-19.

“All of the new cases are currently asymptomatic.The patients from San Jose are already housed in the Provincial Care and Containment Center for proper isolation, monitoring, and treatment. The patients from Loreto are presently isolated in their Municipal Care and Containment Center,” it said.

“This is our highest recorded increase in active cases this year. Last year’s highest number of active cases in one day was 18,” it added.

Dinagat has recorded a total of 166 COVID-19 cases since March last year, with 124 recoveries and one death. CLC
