Caraga recorded seven more deaths from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday, May 12, amid the continuous surge of new virus cases in the region.
The new deaths bring to 373 the total of deaths in the region, the Department of Health (DOH) in Caraga on Thursday said.
DOH Caraga did not give details on the deaths.
The agency also disclosed that a record-high daily tally of 170 new cases for the entire region on the same day.
With these new cases, the number of known COVID-19 infections in Caraga has now reached 11,187.
Of the newly-reported cases, DOH Caraga said Agusan del Sur topped the list of new infections regionwide. The province has 57 COVID-19 cases.
This was followed by Surigao del Norte with 34 cases; Butuan City with 25 cases; Surigao City with 18 cases; Surigao del Sur with 11 cases; Agusan del Norte with 10 cases; Bayugan City with seven cases; Bislig City with three cases; Dinagat Islands and Cabadbaran City with two cases each; and Tandag City with one case .
The number of patients who recovered from the viral illness has so far reached 9,467, while there are still 1,347 active cases as of Thursday afternoon. CLC
