The second most wanted criminal in the Caraga region was arrested in Rosario town in Agusan del Sur after years hiding from authorities, police said Monday.
Caraga Police chief Brigadier General Romeo Caramat Jr. identified the suspect as Rommel Guinsod, 38, a resident of Barangay San Mateo in Butuan City.
Caramat said Guinsod was caught by police operatives armed with a warrant of arrest in his safehouse at the village of Bayugan 3 around 3:30 a.m.
Guinsod is facing a murder case at the Regional Trial Court Branch 33 in Butuan since 2014 with no bail recommended. Guinsod was accused of killing his cousin inside his house.
Caramat said the suspect was caught after extensive surveillance and manhunt operations initiated by several police units.
“This is clearly another accomplishment for PRO13 operations in hunting down criminals who have warrants of arrest and for those who are still hiding in the force of law, we will not stop chasing you ’til you are put behind bars,” he said. CLC
