Caraga’s active COVID-19 cases soar to 190 after logging 52 new cases

The active COVID-19 cases in Caraga jumped to 190 after the Department of Health (DOH) regional office recorded 52 new cases on Saturday, Jan. 8.

Data from the DOH Caraga showed that the region only had 61 active cases a week ago.

Meanwhile, the region’s tally of recovered patients climbed to 47,309 and the death toll stood at 1,899 with no new fatalities reported on that day.

To date, Caraga has recorded a total of 49,398 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in 2020. 

The DOH data indicate that as of Dec. 31, a total of 1,029,921 individuals or 52.88 percent of the target eligible population had been fully vaccinated, while 1,285,239 people have received their first dose.

The region has administered a total of 2,315,160.

The region’s target is to vaccinate 70-percent or 2,053,640 of its 2,933,772-population to achieve herd immunity against the disease. CLC
