The recorded-high number of new cases on Friday brought the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the region to 3,651.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin, Butuan City and Agusan del Sur province topped the list with 99 infections, followed by Surigao del Sur (70), Surigao del Norte (58), Agusan del Norte (43), Bayugan City (33), Bislig City (30), Tandag City (14), Cabadbaran City (12 cases) and Surigao City (9).

The agency also said that 96 % of the active cases are patients with mild symptoms and asymptomatic patients.
The region has been seeing an alarming spike of COVID-19 cases and number of fatalities since the start of September due to community transmission and weak enforcement of the minimum public health standards.
Authorities urged residents to get vaccinated and to follow health protocols to stop the spread of the virus. CLC
