Police arrested at least 115 wanted persons in Caraga during a one-day “simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation” (Sacleo) in the region, authorities said.
Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., Caraga regional police director said most of the arrested persons were wanted for murder, attempted murder, rape and acts of lasciviousness.
Caramat said the anti-crime operations were carried out on Monday (Nov. 30) in the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and in Butuan City.
According to him, an American national wanted in Dinagat for rape and three suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were among those arrested in the single-day sweep.
Police stations in these provinces and city had taken custody of the arrested persons while waiting for a commitment order from the courts.
“Rest assured that PNP Caraga will conduct another Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations in the region in the coming days to ensure that illegal activities are suppressed and no criminal and wanted persons are freely roaming in the region posing threats to the Caraganons,”Caramat said.
Sacleo replaced the “One-time Big-time” (OTBT) police operation against drugs, wanted persons, illegal firearms and other forms of criminality. CLC
