Butuan suspends classes, work in public offices due to ‘Vinta’

Work in local government offices and classes in all levels in both public and private schools are suspended in Butuan City on Friday, Dec. 22, due to Typhoon tropical storm “Vinta.”

The city government said the announcement covers all offices in city hall except those agencies involved in delivery of basic and health services, disaster response and other public services .

Suspension of work private offices and companies, meanwhile, would depend “upon the discretion of management.”

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday tropical storm “Vinta” maintained its speed and track towards the eastern part of Mindanao.

Signal No. 2 is hoisted over Surigao del Norte, including Siargao Islands; Surigao del Sur; Agusan del Norte; Agusan del Sur; and Northern Davao Oriental.

Vinta is expected to hit land over the Caraga-Davao region between late Thursday evening and early Friday. By GD
