Butuan’s total COVID-19 cases neared the 3,000 mark as the Department of Health (DOH) in Caraga reported 46 new cases on Sunday, bringing the city’s total of confirmed cases of infection to 2,995.
In its bulletin for April 12, DOH Caraga said the total number of COVID-19 cases in Butuan, the regional and commercial capital of Caraga, is now at 2,995 — of which 266 are considered active.
Of the newly reported cases, DOH Caraga said 10 are from Barangay Libertad, seven are from Barangay Doongan, four each in the barangays of Ambago, Baan Km.3, Bayanihan and Sumilihon, three are from Bonbon, two are from Mahay and one each in the villages of Banza, Bancasi, Baobaoan, Port Poyohon, Obrero, San Vicente, Tandang Sora and Villa Kananga.
No new deaths were also recorded on Sunday, with the number of deaths remaining at 79.
The health department likewise announced 13 new recoveries, bringing the city’s total to 2,650.
Butuan officials appealed to residents to continue observing the minimum health standards such as wearing a face mask and physical distancing to stop coronavirus transmission. CLC
