Butuan posts another day of single-digit active COVID-19 cases

The city has again registered single-digit active COVID-19 cases on Thursday (Oct. 28), the fourth time in the last five days, data from the city government has shown.

Only eight new infections were registered on Thursday, bringing to 143 the total active cases.

At least 13 more virus-infected patients were also cleared of COVID-19 on the same day, pushing the number of recoveries to 11,523.

But two more fatalities were also logged on Thursday, raising to 457 the city’s COVID-19 death toll.

The latest to succumb to the disease are a resident of Barangay Ambago and another from Libertad village.

The city has recorded a total of 12,123 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year.

Butuan is targeting to vaccinate at least 254,900 of its 371,388 population, but as of October 25, only 35 percent has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. CLC
