Butuan logs 105 new COVID-19 infections, 9 deaths

Nine more residents in Butuan City died due to COVID-19, bringing the death toll since the start of the pandemic last year to 240, the city government’s Sept. 8 bulletin disclosed.

The latest viral disease fatalities were residents of Barangays Ampayon, Baan KM 3, Buhangin, Doongan, Golden Ribbon,Kinamlutan, Libertad and Tungao.

The city government also registered 105 new cases and 26 recoveries on Wednesday.

The new patients increased the active cases in this city 1,032 on Wednesday from 962 on Tuesday.

The city’s COVID-19 tracker shows that it has recorded 8,762 cumulative cases since March last year, with 7,477 recoveries.

On Monday, Butuan Mayor Ronnie Vicente Lagnada placed at least 76 barangays in the city under modified enhanced community quarantine with heightened restrictions for two weeks beginning Sept.7.

The imposition of MECQ was due to the soaring number of residents dying due to COVID-19, and the need to contain the spread of variants, according to Lagnada. CLC
