All systems go for barangay, SK elections in Caraga

Hundreds of would-be voters queue to register through the satellite registration being conducted by the Commission on Elections office in Butuan in Barangay Pangabugan on Thursday.

Everything is in place for the upcoming barangay and SK elections to be held on October 23, according to Commission on Elections Caraga director Atty. Francisco Pobe.

Pobe said they are ready to ensure the successful holding of the polls, with Comelec officials in the region practically done with all the preparations.

“It’s all systems go for the Oct. 23 barangay and SK elections,” Pobe said.

As of Jan. 16, 2017, there are 1,578,228 registered voters in the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region while 635,178 SK voters, the official said.

On Thursday, Comelec chair Juan Andres D. Bautista arrived in Butuan where he conducted an actual observation at the satellite registration in Barangay Pangabugan.

The visit was part of the two-day conference and consultative interaction with election officials, personnel and stakeholders in the region. By YUC
