Six Surigao City Hall employees subjected to a surprise drug test last month have been found positive for drug use, a drug test conducted by the city government revealed.
Surigao City Anti-Drugs Abuse Council head Atty. Manuelito Delani said the employees who tested positive
were from the City Health Office (CHO), City Engineering Office (CEO) and Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU).
Delani, however, declined to name them pending a confirmatory drug test.
Last month’s drug test involved 205 government employees in the city. Of that number, three from the TEU, one from CHO and two from the CEO tested positive.
Delani said the results were sent to Surigao City Mayor Ernesto Matugas, and it’s up to him to decide on their fate.
The local government has been doing surprise drug tests to all employees as part of the city government’s cleansing drive to ensure its employees are not using illegal drugs, Delani said. By CLC
