Narcotics operatives seized P30,000 worth of marijuana, from an Australian national in a drug raid in General Luna, Siargao Islands, in Surigao del Norte, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Arrested was Australian Michal Audziejczyk, 41, an alleged high-value target operating in Siargao, known as the country’s surfing capital, according to Dindo Abellanosa, PDEA in Caraga spokesperson.
A joint team of police and PDEA agents armed with a search warrant swooped down at the suspect’s rented villa at the village of Catangnan around 10:55 p.m. on Tuesday, which led to 30 plastic sachets that contained alleged marijuana leaves being seized with an estimated value of P30,000.
“The suspect was very elusive, he’s selective in his dealings so we opted for a search warrant to pin him down,” Abellanosa told the Courier.
Also seized from the suspect were 10 live ammunition, two mobile phones and his passport.
Abellanosa said the PDEA is investigating the source of the marijuana.
The seized drugs were brought to the PDEA lab for tests while violation of the anti-drugs law, particularly section 11 or possession of dangerous drugs was being prepared against Audziejczyk, according to Abellanosa. By CLC
