The number of evacuees trying to escape the wrath of typhoon “Vinta” rose to around 19,775 in Caraga, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) said .
A report from the RDRRMC on Friday said that 4,733 families or 19,775 persons were preemptively evacuated from coastal and other hazardous areas as the powerful typhoon barrelled towards Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Sur and Surigao del Norte.
Displaced residents are now taking shelter in 96 evacuation centers in the region.
