Police arrested at least 123 suspected criminals in the massive 10-day anti-drug and anti-criminality campaign in Caraga region, police said Monday.
Newly-installed Caraga police director Chief Supt. Gilberto Cruz said authorities in various provinces and municipalities arrested 60 suspected drug pushers and users from September 11-21, 2018.
A total of 47.47 grams of shabu (crystal meth) and 94.95grams of marijuana were confiscated.
Cruz said 63 wanted persons were also arrested; and 10 for illegal possession of firearms in different parts of the region. Most of the suspects were arrested on the strength of warrant of arrest issued by the local courts.
“We will impose the full force of the law to arrest wanted persons and other individuals involved in illegal activities,” he said.
The arrested suspects were detained in different municipal jails.
Cruz said the intensified police operations through simultaneous implementation of search and arrest warrants was meant to address criminality and other threats to peace and order and security in the region.
“I call on all the members of the community, local government units, other government agencies and all stakeholders to help the police force in making Caraga safer and more peaceful,” he added. By CLC
