The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested on Sunday a husband and his wife tagged as “Caraga’s top drug dealers.”
According to PDEA-13 spokesperson Dindo Abellanosa, Agapito Gomez, 52, is allegedly the leader of the Early 7 drug syndicate, and is No. 1 in the list of drug personalities of PDEA Caraga .
Abellanosa said Gomez was arrested around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, following the service of a search warrant at his rented house in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.
Antidrug operatives seized 20 grams of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P136,000 and a digital weighing scale.
Also nabbed in PDEA’s anti-narcotics operation was Gomez’s wife, Betsie, who was no. 2 in the list of top illegal drug personalities in the region.
“The Early 7 drug syndicate is based in Surigao del Sur with drug networks operating in Caraga,” Abellanosa told the Courier.
He added the couple have been under surveillance by PDEA agents for some time until they were eventually busted.
Charges for possession of dangerous drugs in Section 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were being readied for filing against the suspects. CLC
