Surigaonon grandma, 64, shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunman; land dispute eyed

Police are looking at land dispute as the possible motive in the killing of a 64-year-old grandmother by a lone gunman on a motorcycle in Surigao City on Sunday.

The death of Surigaonon Nenita Zaragosa has raised alarm and outrage from residents amid the spate of killings perpetrated by persons riding in tandem on motorcycles in recent months .

Zaragosa was walking home on Ceniza Street in Barangay Luna after attending mass when the suspect drove up and fired at her 12:50 p.m.

Zaragosa died instantly from bullet wound in the head.

Supt. Jay Baybayan, Surigao City police director, said initial investigation revealed Zaragosa was embroiled in a land dispute .
