The second most wanted criminal in the Caraga region was arrested by police in Tubay town in Agusan del Norte on Saturday, police said.
Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., Caraga regional police director, said James Lord Bangcot, 32, was arrested at his hideout in Tubay Saturday morning.
Bangcot was collared after combined police forces from Tubay, Provincial Intelligence Unit and the 2nd Agusan del Norte Provincial Mobile Force implemented the warrant of arrest against him, according to Caramat.
Caramat said Bangcot, a resident of Barangay La Fraternidad, Tubay, is the subject of arrest warrant issued by the Cabadbaran Regional Trial Court Branch 34 for murder on November 6, 2017.
He was in hiding for years before authorities received a tip on his whereabouts in Tubay.
Bangcot is number two on the list of most wanted persons in Caraga after he was identified as one of the suspects tagged in the killing of a certain Dante Diayon in 2016.
“I commend the operating troops for this successful police operation. Criminals must be brought behind bars and face the consequences of the crimes they have committed,” Caragat said.
“Letting these criminals roam freely in our region is like taking away the right of every peace-loving Caraganons to live in peace,” he added.
Caraga’s highest-ranking police official vowed that they will intensify its hunt for wanted persons and anti-criminality campaign, saying they are always committed to “serve and protect”. By CLC
