At least 559 passengers were stranded in the ports of Lipata and Surigao in Surigao del Norte and Nasipit in Agusan del Norte after vessels were barred from sailing due to Tropical Storm “Urduja.”
The Philippine Coast Guard did not issue clearances to any vessel in Surigao del Norte and Agusan del Norte to prevent sea accidents amid heavy rains, high waves and strong winds..
Data from the PCG revealed that a total of 13 passenger ferries and cargo ships were grounded as of noon on Friday.
Affected were 302 passengers bound for Southern Leyte, who were stranded at the Lipata ferry terminal. About 147 passengers, who were bound for Siargao and Cebu, could not leave Eva M.
