NEWSPIX: Tribal folk seek justice on 2nd anniversary of Surigao ‘lumad’ leaders killings

To commemorate the second anniversary of the Sept. 1 killing of a school director and two lumad leaders in Lianga, Surigao del Sur, about 200 protesters marched through downtown Butuan on Friday to reiterate their call for justice and called on the government to end the culture of impunity, violence and injustice still prevailing in their tribal communities.

The leaders of the paramilitary Magahat-Bagani tagged in the killings of Alternative Learning Center for Agriculture and Livelihood Development (Alcadev) school director Emerito Samarca and tribal leaders Dionel Campus and Datu Jovello Sinzo remained at large despite warrants for their arrest issued by a local court.
