NEWSPIX: Surigao gov’t wants pool resort closed after kid drowns

The Surigao City government has ordered temporary closure of the Fiesta Resort in Barangay Ipil, where a 5-year-old boy drowned last Saturday while swimming in a pool over safety concerns.

An investigation conducted by local officials at the behest of the victim’s family indicated that the resort allegedly had no lifeguard and life-saving equipment.

The death of Nylvin Matt Paradena of Barangay Taft is the fourth alleged drowning incident at the resort in recent years. By GD Photo courtesy of Jojo Ferol
