Army soldiers seized illegally cut forest products left abandoned in a remote village in Carmen town, Surigao del Sur Monday.
Soldiers from the Army’s 36 Infantry Battalion were conducting foot patrol when they chanced upon illegally-cut Lauan flitches with an estimated volume of 300 board feet worth P13,500.
No one was caught at the logging site. The confiscated items were turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Surigao del Sur is considered a hot spot for illegal logging operations. Photo courtesy of Valor Yan
