Armed rebels believed to be members of the New People’s Army burned heavy equipment in a quarry site in Butuan City past midnight on Friday (Oct. 20).
Some 40 armed communist guerillas wearing Army fatigue uniforms swooped down on Purok 7 in Barangay (village) Bonbon and set on fire three backhoes and one dumptruck owned by a certain Ali Martinez at around 12:30 a.m
Authorities estimated the damage at about P 10 million.
The torching of the equipment was caused by the reported refusal of the company to pay the so-called revolutionary taxes of the NPAs. Photos courtesy of RMN DXBC Butuan
