NEWSPIX: NPA ‘bomb maker’ surrenders in Caraga

An alleged New People’s Army (NPA) bomb-maker surrendered to the Army on Monday in Surigao del Sur, a military official said.

Lt. Col. Xerxes Trinidad, commander of the 36th Infantry Battalion based in Tago town in Surigao del Sur, identified the rebel explosives expert as Edwin Martinez Coquilla, alias Ka Jemar.

Coquilla, 21, a resident of Barangay Cabangahan in Tago handed over anti-personnel landmines and other materials.

According to Trinidad, aside from making bombs for the NPA, Coquilla was also the squad leader of Platoon 1 of the NPA’s Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee. By GD Photos courtesy of Juday Sagz
