Soldiers from the 30th Infantry Battalion recovered an ammunitions cache, anti-personnel mines and several paraphernalia hidden by suspected communist rebels in Barangay Mat-i in Surigao City over the weekend.
Capt. Regie H. Go, spokesperson of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division based in Cagayan de Oro City, said the recovery of the items was made possible through information provided by a rebel returnee who pinpointed the exact location of the stocks of war material and other supplies on Saturday (May 25).
Go said among those recovered were three anti-personnel mines, two bandoliers, four AK47 magazines, one M16 magazine, 620 extra rounds for AK47, 14 rounds of ammunition for M16 rifle, 250 meters electrical wire, rebel uniforms, assorted personal belongings and anti-government documents. | CLC Photo courtesy of Terti Aybee
