The Caraga Region police extended on Wednesday assistance to the families of two suspected New People’s Army rebels killed during a recent firefight with government troops in Lianga town, Surigao del Sur.
The slain rebels were identified as Randyl Gallego and Emel Tejero, whose bodies were abandoned as their comrades fled to different directions following the clash in the mountainous area of Barangay Diatagon.
Caraga police director Chief Supt. Gilberto DC Cruz said that although the two died fighting for a lost cause, they nevertheless “deserve to be given decent burial.”
He said police personnel provided the caskets and prepared the graves for the slain communist rebels. By CLC PHOTO/Caraga PulisPIO
