NEWSPIX: Agusan Sur town declares Reds persona non grata

The municipal council of Sibagat in Agusand del Sur declared persona non grata the communist-led New People’s Army (NPA) following a raid on a government militia detachment where rebels took hostage two soldiers and 12 militiamen last month.

In a resolution passed last December 21, 2018, but released to media only on Monday, January 14, 2019 , the Sibagat council said the kidnapping and abduction perpetrated by the rebel group “was a manifestation of betrayal of achieving peace, thus disrupting the peace and security of the community.”

The resolution, which was signed by all the members of the Municipal Legislative Council and Mayor Maria Liza Evangelista stated that “the incident made the families of the hostages in chaos leaving them psychologically and mentally disturbed.”

The town council reiterated the demands of the families of captive soldiers and militiamen for the unconditional release of their love ones. By CLC PHOTO/Skeptica
