NEWSPIX: A year after big quake, Surigao airport rehab still hanging

Surigao City officials called on the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to fast-track the rehabilitation and expansion of the Surigao City Airport which was damaged when the city was struck by a 6.7-magnitude earthquake in February last year.

The city government is looking forward to the rehabilitation because it will boost tourism and investor confidence in the city, Mayor Ernesto Matugas said.

“City and provincial governments are making follow-ups with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to push through with the implementation of the rehabilitation and expansion of our airport,” Matugas was quoted as saying by the Manila Bulletin. By CLC Photo/PIA-Caraga
