The arrest on Saturday of Lisa Clorina, Isagani Nazareno, Gino Nazareno,Cyrel Nazareno, Juan Nazareno, and Cherry Mae Maquiling in the hinterland village of Mampi in Lanuza town took place hours after a clash occurred between soldiers and NPA rebels in the same village, said Lieutenant Colonel Xerxes Trinidad, commanding officer of the Army’s 36th Infantry Battalion, in a statement.
Trinidad said his troops were conducting pursuit and blocking operations against the fleeing rebels when they intercepted two habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) carrying a food cache believed to be owned by the NPA.
