Fourteen members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the 26th Infantry Battalion in Talacogon town in Agusan del Sur province, the military said on Monday.
Lt. Col. Rommel Pagayon, battalion commander of 26th IB, said the rebels brought along with them 16 assorted firearms and rounds of ammunition.The names of the surrenderees were not given for confidentiality.
As surrenderees, the group would be enrolled in the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP) of the national government and would receive livelihood assistance and other social benefits. They were expected to receive similar benefits and cash rewards for the firearms that they surrendered under the Local Social Integration Program (LSIP). Photos courtesy of Ella Kate
