Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña designated lawyer Ma. Liza Sebastian as the new district collector of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Surigao replacing former collector Lilibeth Mangsal in what the agency called a “major reshuffle” designed to improve collection performance.
Sebastian from the Revenue Collection Monitoring Group assumed her post yesterday and promised to try her best to hit the district’s collection target for the year.
Lapeña said the relief of Mangsal and two other district collectors from their posts was due to failure to meet their assigned collection targets last month.
Mangsal was designated acting deputy collector for operations at the Port of Cebu. The BOC has 17 major port collectors and 37 subport collectors nationwide.
Lapeña earlier issued a strict directive to intensify collection performance, stop smuggling and curb corruption in the bureau. By GD
