It’s not just like any other Pinoy magazines where they feature nothing but showbiz lives; their mansions and expensive homes and irrelevant love affairs that don’t connect to people but Bai Magazine (as in pare, brod, sis), the region’s first ever people and culture magazine that documents the humble lives of Caraganons/Mindanaoans who make a difference, not in themselves but of the communities they come from.
For the editors, publishers and supporters of Bai mag, the quarterly paper serves as instrument of the region’s collective pride and identity.
As one public regional official said, “This is what we need, real homegrown stories to analyze where we’ve been and where we’re going. Like our collective roadmap.”
Out this week and sold in selected outlets ( Tindahanang Pinoy at Gaisano, Robinsons, and Jucha vegetarian restaurant, gas stations), the magazine’s 2nd issue feature extraordinary stories of Janette Mendoza (Butuan city), Ruth Atega (Cabadbaran city), Dr. Lamberto Vasaya, Jr. (Surigao city), Cyril Collado, Lilit Concon and Erwin Mascariñas (Butuan city), among others.
The magazine will expand coverage (beyond Caraga region) in content and circulation (starting February next year) to Davao city, General Santos city, Cagayan de Oro city and Cebu city.
Bai Magazine editor-in- chief is veteran feature, travel and creative writer Ramon Jorge Sarabosing.
