Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents arrested a medical technologist of a government-run hospital and two others following a string of buy-bust operations on Saturday in Surigao City.
Dindo Abellanosa, spokesperson of PDEA-Caraga, identified the suspects as Harold Yuipco, medical technologist of the Caraga Regional Hospital, Joseph Angelo Mancera, a certified public accountant and a certain Gabriel Paras.
Abellanosa said the first operation was conducted past 11 a.m. inside a Surigao City inn, where drug suspects Yuipco and Mancera were arrested.
An undercover officer posed as a buyer and bought a plastic sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) from one of the suspects.
Recovered from the suspects were one sachet containing 0.02 grams of shabu with a street value of P2,000, drug paraphernalia and the marked money.
The suspects, who the PDEA considered as high-value targets, were under surveillance for several months.
Through the arrests of the two suspects, PDEA agents were able to conduct a follow-up operation at around 1:00 p.m. Saturday leading to the arrest of Paras.
The suspects are facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. By CLC
