Agusan del Norte Gov. Angel Amante has vehemently denied allegations that she endorsed the candidacy of her nephew, Juan Miguel over her party-mate and trusted lieutenant Dale Corvera, as provincial governor.
Angel Amante made it explicitly clear during their barangay sorties that it is not in her vocabulary to deceive the Agusanons.
“I would never betray anybody, especially Mayor Dale. In the first place, why would I run for Congress against my brother Erlpe and then endorse his son as governor when I could just seek for reelection as governor and not confront my brother? These claims do not make sense,” Angel said.
“Kung ingon ana naman lang gani, nganong atbangan pa man nako akong igsoon sa Kongreso nga pwede pa man unta ko modagan balik pagka-gobernador? Wala’y away, wala’y gasto,” the governor added.
Angel Amante, provincial chair of ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan Agusan del Norte (PDP-Laban) declared in no uncertain terms that she fully supports and endorses the candidacy of Corvera as her successor to the top provincial post not only because he is party-mate, but also because of Corvera’s proven competence, probity, long experience, and sterling record of public service.
Angel, who is out to snatch Rep. Erlpe John Amante’s out of his post added that the numerous problems facing the province require an experienced governor who will immediately hit the ground running after election and not somebody who still needs to learn the ropes.
Corvera is a third-termer mayor of Cabadbaran City, whose brand of leadership during his stint revolved around transparency, accountability and peoples’ participationin policy-making.
Corvera vowed to replicate his advocacies province-wide if elected as provincial governor.
