A former New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was arrested on Monday (July 6) for the 2019 death of a police officer in Agusan del Norte.
Ricky Enoy, 43, was arrested by the police past 8 p.m. Monday in Barangay Cubi-Cubi at Nasipit town in Agusan del Norte province, on the strength of arrest warrants for murder and frustrated murder, Caraga police director Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr. said.
Esquivel said Enoy was allegedly part of a group of rebels who killed Police Executive Master Sergeant Jimmer Omisol in Carmen town, on May 22, 2019.
Enoy, who was also No. 2 most wanted in Carmen town is now detained at the Nasipit police jail.
“Our efforts continue to ensure that all perpetrators will be brought to justice. We keep on working with our force multipliers and the intelligence community to track down the remaining suspects in the incident,” Esquivel said in a statement.
But Enoy’s relatives decried the “warrantless arrest”, saying he was not who the authorities say he is.
“Gi dakop nga way warrant. Mang rahaay rana ug ug usa pud na ka mag uuma naningkamot para sa iyang umaabot nga anak,” said the suspect’s niece Loriely Enoy-Monteclaro, in a Facebook post.
“Sakit sa amua ang nahitabo nga nag bayad syas sala nga wa nya buhata,” she added. CLC
