A former vice mayor of Nasipit town in Agusan del Norte was arrested, over his alleged involvement in Kapa Community Ministry International Inc. (Kapa), a religious corporation found soliciting investments in a manner resembling a Ponzi scheme, police said.
Police Maj Edgar Allan Serquina, Nasipit police chief, said Ronald “Posoy” Timogan did not resist arrest at his residence in Barangay 3, Nasipit Friday night.
Timogan is facing charges of syndicated estafa, a non-bailable offense.
The arrest made was upon the order of Judge Isah Exhem Tanginan of the Butuan Regional Trial Court branch 33 issued last September 26.
Timogan, a radio broadcaster allegedly presented himself to “member-donors” as coordinator of Kapa in Butuan and Agusan del Norte.
He hosted public affairs program to encourage the public to “donate” any amount in exchange for a 30 percent monthly return. By CLC
