A drug surrenderer who allegedly returned to drug-dealing was arrested in a buy-bust operation in General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte province on Saturday.
Dindo Abellanosa, spokesperson of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 13 (PDEA-Caraga), said anti-illegal drugs operatives collared Jenny Salidaga, 39, after he sold shabu (crystal meth) to an undercover PDEA agent in a transaction in Barangay Poblacion III past 6 p.m.
The suspect, who did not resist arrest, yielded six sachets containing suspected shabu and P 500 bill used as marked money.
Abellanosa said Salidaga, a target-listed drug personality and a drug surrenderer from Butuan City during Oplan Tokhang, a police campaign that encouraged drug pushers and users to surrender and change their ways.
“The suspect intentionally transferred residence from Butuan to General Luna in order to defy monitoring being a drug surrenderee and a hot target drug personality,” Abellanosa said.
“He did not really stop but, instead, continued his illicit illegal drug activities in Siargao knowing the high demand of illegal drugs in the area due to influx of foreign and local tourists,” he added.
Charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was being readied against Salidaga who was under custody at the PDEA detention facility. By CLC
