A physician deployed in Agusan del Norte under the government’s Doctors to the Barrio program was killed in a hit-and-run in Santiago, Agusan del Norte on Thursday evening, Feb. 7.
The family of the victim, Dr. Zuriele Arambulo, is urging the driver of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) to come forward.
A police report said Arambulo, was crossing the highway around 8:30 p.m when she was hit by a speeding SUV heading to Surigao area.
The victim sustained fatal injuries that caused her immediate death.
The police are tracking down the driver of the SUV who sped off towards Surigao.
Arambulo, 28, the youngest of three siblings, was a native of Cainta town in Rizal. She earned her medical degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine in Cebu City in 2018.
The Department of Health is mourning over the “untimely demise” of the young physician, whom Caraga health director Jose Llacuna, described as “one of the eight new volunteer doctors” who opted to serve in the region through the Doctors to the Barrios program. By CLC
