Cybersex den in Butuan City raided; 3 minors rescued, 2 suspects arrested

Police rescued three minors and arrested two persons in a house that was turned into a cybersex den in Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Butuan City on Sunday afternoon.

The operation was conducted by members of the Women and Children Protection Center-Mindanao Field Unit (WCPC-FEU), Butuan City Police Office (BCPO), personnel form the BCPO’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk, Department of Social Welfare and Development- 13 and the City Social Welfare and Development.

Senior Insp. Emerson Alipit, spokesperson for the Butuan City Police Office identified those arrested as Reymark Pallugna and Maria Catherine Baquial.

Alipit said the suspects allegedly used a smartphone to take pictures and record videos of the minors (two boys  and a girl ) doing lewd acts, and sold the video footage to foreigners through the Internet.

Government operatives confiscated the gadget used by the suspects.

Alipit said the operation was conducted after they  received reports about the cybersex operations.

Charges were filed in court yesterday against the suspects for alleged violations of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act (Republic Act No. 9208) and the Anti-Child Pornography Act (Republic Act No. 9775) in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Both deny the allegations.

The three victims were sent to the DSWD to undergo psycho-social therapy. By CLC
