COVID-19 death toll in Caraga breaches 300 mark

The coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll in Caraga has breached the 300 mark after another death case was reported on Thursday, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Friday.

In a coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case bulletin, the DOH Caraga said the latest fatality is a 42-year-old man from the town of Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

The new death brings to 303 the total of deaths in the region.

On Friday afternoon, the DOH Caraga also reported 40 more COVID-19 patients regionwide.

Caraga, still under modified general community quarantine status, has logged a total of 7,558 COVID-19 cases, but at least 6,882 have recovered.

The health office said at least 373 people were still sick with the respiratory illness.

According to DOH data, Butuan is still the top city with the most number of COVID-19 cases with 2,505, followed by Surigao with 463, Tandag with 314, Bislig with 294, Cabadbaran with 212, and Bayugan with 177.

In terms of province, Agusan del Sur remained the top province with the most number of COVID-19 cases with 1,532, Surigao del Sur with 706 cases, Agusan del Norte with 659 cases, Surigao del Norte with 574 cases, and Dinagat Islands with 122. CLC
