Cops nab 36 in antigambling drive in Caraga

Police in Caraga Region said at least 36 person have been arrested following a revitalized anti-illegal gambling campaign in the region.

Chief Supt. Rolando B. Felix, Caraga police director said, these illegal gambling personalities were arrested in 43 operations conducted by various police units spread all over the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region.

Majority of the arrests involved street gambling like fruit game, video karera, illegal numbers games, and other forms of gambling like cockfight and card games, he said.

None of those arrested in the campaign that started on January 1 is a financier and those who are considered to be big fish though.

Felix said eliminating illegal gambling trade in the region is a priority and urged the public to support them.

“To reinforce our efforts to wipe out gambling operations, we encourage the community to provide information or report to the police any illegal gambling activities in your area,” Felix said. By CLC
